So many things to say, and so little time (stupid uni)

Evening all!

Unfortunately, because I have an awful lot to do, this is just going to be another of those stupidly short posts. Sorry!
To make up for it, here is some Imagine Dragons and Of Monsters and Men...

I've always been someone who listens to a lot of music, having grown up in a household with books, movies and CDs lining the walls from ceiling to floor. But recently I've been listening to music a lot more than usual. I find it helps me concentrate on what I'm doing, and, if I'm writing, helps me become more in-tune to the characters' feelings and emotions. Obviously, there are some pieces of music which suit different emotions, like violins (usually) suiting a sad scene. But, there are some pieces which work regardless of whether the character(s) are happy or sad, angry or defeated. The video below is of Ludovico Einaudi's I Giorni, and is a piece of music which, I believe, succeeds in making you feel many different emotions all at the same time.

Another piece of music which I've come to love recently is I Vow To Thee My Country. The BBC has been using Beck Goldsmith's cover of the song on the advert for The Village, which is where I realised just how beautiful the song actually is. Although there is a youtube video of the entire cover by Beck Goldsmith, unfortunately I can't upload it on here for some reason. So, instead here's the trailer that features the song...

Another little goody I stumbled upon recently is www.theliterarygiftcompany.com.
I have to stop myself from going on the site in case I buy every thing...which has a definite possibility of occurring. It's just too darn good!
I mean, seriously. Just look at this.

That's the ENTIRE Alice in Wonderland book. ON A POSTER.
Seriously. What.
I swear my life is now complete.
I would just sit, staring at my walls all day, reading, if I had a poster like this.
There are a few other designs too, if anyone wants to check them out...

Only a couple of things left to say.
Firstly, I finally finished my stylized drawing of Tanith Low! Hallelujah! Praise be to...well, my Easter holiday, I suppose.
Here's the final piece - any positive/negative criticisms welcome!

And lastly, an update on the first chapter of my story.
I should have finished my first rough draft. And by that I mean excruciatingly rough, i.e. it will probably have millions of horrendous grammatical errors in it. But! I shall give you something to read at least!

Anyway, busy busy.

See you Wednesday!

Schedules never work

I'm really rubbish at keeping schedules, especially those I, myself, make. But alas, I shall be attempting one yet again.

Why??
Why, oh, why must I do this to myself?

Well, because of you people, that's why.
And, I suppose, for a little bit of structure and order in my life.
And an attempt at organisation isn't always a bad thing.
Though I know I'll regret this pretty quickly.

'What will you regret?' I hear you ask. Well, my once-fortnightly posts, that's what.

I've finally accepted that I'm incredibly rubbish at remembering things; things like posting on this blog, for example. It's not that I don't want to or wouldn't like to, I just forget. A lot.

So, I've therefore decided to post on this blog every other Wednesday. I posted on the 17th (the Wednesday just gone), so the next big post will be on the 1st of May.
I may post during 'The Silent Fortnight' (dun dun DUUUUN) (it seemed like too dramatic a name to pass up doing that to), but I will definitely post every other Wednesday.

On the 1st I'll (hopefully) be giving you the first chapter of a single-novel story I've been working on (not the story I mentioned in my first post). So, fingers-crossed it'll be ready in time! Though I've got a few draft-posts waiting to be finalized, so you'll probably hear from me before then anyway, and I'll let you know how the chapter is going.

Anyway, I'll be off now - busy busy. But I'll leave you with this...

When I was cleaning my room, I opened a box and BOOM, I found my childhood.
Harry Potter, Beanie Babies, Pokemon, Dragonball Z and The Parent Trap?
Yeah, it's official. My childhood was awesome.

A small update

I'm a terrible, terrible person and there is no denying it.
I haven't posted one blasted thing since returning home, and time is slowly slipping away before I will be back in the clutches of exam life. Gah!

However, I do have multiple draft posts which I'm editing, and so something should be headed your way soon(ish). Also, I should probably admit to the fact that I've gotten back into sketching again and so a lot of my time has been taken up by that. Recently I've been drawing a stylized close-up of Tanith Low from the Skulduggery Pleasant series, so I'll put up a picture of that once it's finished (or you could go over to my Twitter page @FloraMHigh where I'll be updating as it goes along).

I really have no other news, and I kinda feel bad seeing as this is such a short post after a long period of silence...

Ah! I know! Here are some old art pieces of mine, which'll keep you lot going until I upload my more current works.

Enjoy!

From August 31 2008.
The writing says "You don't need to hide within the darkness anymore"

This is from roughly the same time, though it's unfinished so I never dated it.
This is the male version of the image above.
Another unfinished piece, and also another piece including wings
(From the same time as the two above)

From June 25 2008.
I drew this in Year 9 Art class and haven't draw any still-life since, though I might do now - I'll keep you posted.

P.S. I realised that I didn't have a 'Follow' button on my blog, so I've added one on the right-side if anyone is interested!
